1 African map (AfA) Often Brings the Africa expansion map into play, opening the desert / Mediterranean theatre with its own hexes, supply network, and minor countries. Without this option the African mainland is off-map and North African operations rely on the four base maps. Not implemented in the engine yet 1 American map (AiF) Often Adds the full North + South American maps, replacing the small mini-map abstraction with playable hexes for US-entry build-up, Caribbean basing, and South American supply routes. Cross-map seam adjacency to the four base maps lights up as well. Not implemented in the engine yet 1 Scandanavian map (AsA) Often Adds the Scandinavia expansion map, replacing the abstracted Norway / Sweden / Finland hexes on the base maps with a higher-detail tile. Affects Soviet-Finnish operations, Swedish supply transit, and the Allied Norwegian-invasion possibilities.

2 Divisions (DiF) Nearly always Corps can break down into divisions (INF / ARM / MECH / GAR / MAR / MTN / SKI / NKVD / ENG / etc.) for finer-grained operations. Unlocks single-division paradrops, division-sized garrisons, blitz-loss divisions, and the off-map +1 stacking slot reserved for a division. 3 Artillery (DiF) Nearly always Adds AT, AA, FLAK, SAM, rocket, and field artillery counters with the rule-22.2 colour-circle doubling against armoured opponents. Red circles double attacking against ARM / HQ-A / MECH; pink circles double defending. AA and flak also fire at any air mission overhead. 4 Planes in Flames units (PiF) Nearly always Brings the PiF aircraft expansion counters into play: extended-range bombers, jet fighters, twin-engined fighters, night fighters, large ATRs, and so on. Without this option only the base-game air units are available. 5 Ships in Flames units (SiF) Nearly always Replaces the WiF naval counters with the SiF set: per-ship CVs, BBs, CAs, CLs, SUBs, TRSs, and the 3-CP convoy point. Affects naval stacking, convoy mechanics, repair, replacement-ship reinforcement, and the CV / CVP pairing under option 45. 6 Cruisers in Flames units (CLiF) Often Adds the CLiF light-cruiser counters and rule 22.14, including their special role in surface combat against SUBs. Light cruisers split the CL slot into more granular hulls with distinct ASW factors. 7 Convoys in Flames units (CoiF) Often Adds the CoiF expansion counters — ASW units, auxiliary cruisers, merchant raiders, escort CVs (CVE / DE), tankers, milchcows, schnorkel / Walther / missile / flying SUBs, and SUB-hunting aircraft. Vastly expands the Battle of the Atlantic toolset. 8 Aircraft abilities Nearly always Turns on the printed aircraft-ability markers: white-circle ATRs, twin-engined fighters, large / unarmed / bomber-only ATRs, flying boats, jet bombers, high / low altitude bombing, tank busters, and night missions. Each marker layers a small rule onto the base air system. 9 Pacific & Asian ZOCs Sometimes Restores zones of control on the Asian and Pacific maps, which are normally ZOC-free for scale reasons. Slows Japanese / Chinese land advances and gives defenders a useful sticky-zone option in jungle terrain. 10 Surprised ZoCs Nearly always A surprised minor country's land units exert no ZoC on the impulse they are surprised. Lets the surprising side rush past defenders without paying the usual extra MP. Pairs with rule 15.1 declaration-of-war surprise. 11 Limited overseas supply Nearly always Overseas supply traces must pass through sea areas containing a friendly (or co-operating) CP, TRS, or AMPH. Forces the player to actually maintain convoy lines for transoceanic operations instead of assuming friendly seas. 12 Limited access across straits Often Supply, rail moves, and resource transport through enemy-controlled straits hexes are restricted. Tightens the Black Sea, Gibraltar, Skagerrak, and similar choke-point politics. 13 HQ supply and support Nearly always HQs gain three abilities: relaying supply to co-operating units along supply-rule paths, providing emergency supply to OoS units for an impulse, and committing to a combat for a reorg-value-based DRM. Centres operations around HQ placement. 14 Supply units (DiF) Nearly always Adds supply-unit counters (SU divisions) that can be moved, stacked, paradropped via 2-ATR stacks, and consumed during reorganisation to keep distant units in supply. Essential for long deep advances. 15 Winterised movement Sometimes When at least half of an attacking force is winterised (Ski / Cold-weather marker), the snow / blizzard odds reduction is lessened by 2. Lets Soviet forces fight in winter without the usual frozen-attacker penalty. 16 Dynamic naval movement Sometimes A non-transporting naval unit that starts and ends in port using ≤ half its movement allowance stays face-up. Encourages active patrolling — fleets can sortie for fast strikes and remain ready to react. 17 In the presence of the enemy Nearly always A naval unit moving into a sea area where the enemy has a CV, SCS, or aircraft pays +1 MP (or +1 range if no MP remain). Models the chilling effect of enemy capital ships on free-ocean movement. 18 Rough seas Often CLs, TRSs, AMPHs, CPs (and CoiF tanker / ASW) lose 1 MP + 1 range when entering a sea area in storm or blizzard. Models the danger of bad weather to lighter / less-seaworthy hulls — can strand a TRS short of its destination. 19 Task force markers (SiF) Nearly always Allows multiple naval units to be grouped under a single TASK MARKER counter so the opponent can't tell each ship's individual face-up / face-down state. Adds a layer of fog-of-war to naval operations. 20 SCS transport (DiF) Nearly always Surface combat ships (BB / BC / POCKET / CA / CL) may transport an individual division for invasion or sea-move. Lets smaller fleets land troops without dedicated TRS counters. 21 Transport defence (AiF & PatiF) Nearly always TRS counters use their printed defence factor in naval combat. Without this option TRSs defend at 0, relying entirely on escorts; with it they have a fighting chance on their own. 22 Air-sea search Nearly always A side may avoid naval-air combat by spending surprise points keyed on the opponent's longest committed-aircraft range (1-5 SPs, min 4 with carrier planes). Lets a SUB-only force duck a NAV bomber attack. 23 Screening Often Defender and inflictor alternate which side picks the target for each naval-combat result (starting with the owner). Lets cruiser screens take the hits before BBs / CVs. 24 V-weapons and A-bombs (PiF) Sometimes Adds V1 / V2 missile bombardment and atomic bombs to the late-war air system, including their build-ahead production path and dedicated rule-22.17 mechanics. Tilts the late-war strategic picture toward Anglo-American victory. 25 Railway movement bonus Often A land unit pays 1 less MP to enter a hex across a rail hexside (subject to a per-map / per-weather floor). Speeds operational movement along the rail network, especially in fine weather on the European maps. 26 Fractional odds Often Computes the combat odds as a float and rolls a percentile die to escalate to the next-higher odds column probabilistically. Smooths the brittle integer-odds chart so a 1.9:1 attack isn't identical to a clean 1:1. 27 2die10 Land combat results table Often Uses the 2d10 land combat chart instead of the classic 1d10 one. Tighter result curve, more extreme outliers, and the HQ-support DRM divides by 2 (instead of 4). Engine default — flip off to fall back to the 1d10 chart. 28 Spotting fleets Nearly always Face-down TRSs and AMPHs in the 0-box count as 3 CPs each during search. Makes amphib-stuffed task forces easier to spot, models the visibility of a real invasion fleet. 29 Variable reorganisation costs Often Long-build LND / NAV / ATR units cost double to reorganise; ARM / MECH cost double unless reorganised by an HQ-A. Pushes the player to invest in HQ-A counters and to husband expensive specialist aircraft. 30 Saving & spending oil (TiF) Nearly always Each major's oil pool is tracked separately, can be saved between turns, spent to fund extra actions, destroyed when overrun, and adds to victory factors. Turns oil from a flat per-turn input into a proper strategic resource. 31 Saving build points & disbanding units (TiF) Nearly always Build points can be saved on the persistent track between turns and disbanded units recycle into the construction pool. Also enables strategic bombardment of stored BPs and oil. Essential for late-war BP economies. 32 Building and destroying facilities Nearly always Lets you build / destroy / overrun facility markers — factories, synth oil plants, rails, roads, forts, coastal forts, shipyards, and factory specialisation markers. Strategic bombardment targets them; conquest captures or destroys them. 33 Printed factory, rail & oil destruction and repair Nearly always Hexes' PRINTED factories, rail nets, and oil sites can be damaged (by strat-bomb asterisks or scorched-earth retreats) and later repaired. Without this option printed terrain is invincible. 34 Minimum and maximum impulses Sometimes Caps how many impulses a turn can last, and sets a minimum before end-of-turn rolls can succeed. Smooths year-pacing — prevents both runaway long turns and unlucky end-on-impulse-1. 35 Isolated reorganisation Nearly always OoS HQs may still reorganise OoS units they're stacked with. Lets pocketed forces flip face-up before their last stand instead of staying degraded. 36 Cadre Nearly always A corps destroyed outside its home country still earns its power a bonus BP when it was face-up HQ or adjacent / stacked with a face-up HQ. Compensates for the loss of expeditionary forces. 37 Building foreign aircraft Nearly always Activates the lend-lease counter-swap mechanic: a power can ship a built aircraft or naval unit to a recipient major in exchange for the recipient's foreign-sourced counterpart. Models historical LL transfers like Hurricanes to USSR or US aircraft to CW. 38 Building ahead Nearly always A unit may be built before its printed year at a multiplied cost + extended production time. Lets the player rush an early prototype into play (e.g. a 1942 ARM in 1940 for triple BPs). 39 Gearing limits Often Each class can only start as many new units this turn as the previous turn's starts + 1. Forces a steady ramp-up of production rather than instant-scale; prevents sudden 10-ARM build-orders. 40 Factories in Flames (FiF) Nearly always Splits production into separate-country tracks, adds shipyards and factory-specialisation markers, restricts disband to fully-built undamaged units, and exempts continuing builds from gearing. Tightens the late-war production model considerably. Currently blocked on the FiF factory charts not yet being transcribed into engine data. Not implemented in the engine yet 41 Intelligence (KiF) Sometimes Khaki in Flames intel system — Bletchley Park and per-power intel tracks let players see (or hide) face-down unit identities, mission targets, and so on. Adds an entire fog-of-war minigame. 42 Major Power political restrictions Nearly always Two majors must share an active war with at least one common major before they can co-operate (move through each other's hexes, share HQs, etc.). Also enforces the USSR-Japan compulsory peace. 43 En-route aircraft interception Sometimes Bombers fly in 1-4 MP segments and may be intercepted at each way station, not just at the target. Models the long bomber-stream battles over Germany and lets fighters defend further from their bases. 44 Bounce combat Nearly always A FTR that wins its first air combat may roll for a bonus round against another opposing aircraft in the same combat. Models ace pilots and gives high-skill fighters disproportionate value. 45 Carrier plane units (CVPiF) Nearly always Separates carrier-borne air groups (CVP counters) from their host CVs, giving each CVP its own pilot, production cost, and identity. Carrier search, damaged-CV CVP handling, and LL transfers all become more granular. 46 Pilots (PiF) Nearly always Aircraft require pilots (tracked per major) to fly missions. Pilots are produced separately, lost when planes are shot down, and recoverable through pilot-rescue mechanics. Adds a meaningful air-attrition layer. 47 Flying bombs (PiF) Nearly always Adds the white / black skull suicide aircraft — German Mistel, Ba349 Natter, Japanese Ohka — that destroy themselves on attack. Some have pilot-survives semantics (white skull) and others don't (black skull). 48 Kamikazes Often Any Japanese bomber may be declared a kamikaze in a naval-air combat, doubling its A2S factor after AA but destroying the aircraft + pilot at mission end. Late-war Japanese desperation tool. 49 Offensive points Nearly always Each major receives a per-turn pool of offensive points that can be spent to take extra actions, run extra naval searches, ground-strike, or fund Stilwell-style joint reorganisations. Smooths out the binary "took action this impulse" mechanic. 50 Ukraine (TiF) Often The major controlling Kiev can spend 15 BPs to create the Ukrainian aligned minor, gaining its army and a swathe of Ukrainian home country. Axis creation requires the destruction of one SS corps of each type. Models the historical what-if of the Reichskommissariat Ukraine. 51 Frogmen (SiF) Nearly always Adds frogman counters that can attack enemy ships in port or at sea using their printed frogman-attack factor against the sea-box section number. Models commando raids like the X-craft attacks on Tirpitz. 52 Guards Banner Armies (DiF) Nearly always Soviet GBA counters can be promoted from regular Soviet land units after combat success. Models the historical "Guards Army" honorific and gives the USSR a path to upgraded units over time. 53 Siberians (TiF) Nearly always Soviet units of the same type can be replaced 1-for-1 with their Siberian (winterised, better-quality) equivalents from the reserve pool. Models the late-1941 Siberian reinforcement transfers. 54 Territorials (TiF) Nearly always Minor-country territorial units (TERR) are pinned to their home country and produced through a directed-production mechanic. Adds garrison forces to many of the small Allied minors. 55 City based volunteers (AiF & TiF) Nearly always CBV units (Free French, Free Polish, etc.) can be admitted into a major's production circle from cities the major controls in the CBV's home country. First CBV build is free; subsequent builds pay normal cost. 56 Heavy Weapons units (AiF, PatiF & PoliF) Often A WiF land unit can be upgraded to its Heavy Weapons variant at a 2-BP cost (on-map) or free (force-pool swap). Models the historical late-war heavy-weapons-company concentration. Currently blocked on Cal re-adding the rule-22.11 HW counter pairs to the dump. Not implemented in the engine yet 57 Air cav (AiF, PatiF & PoliF) Nearly always Air Cavalry (ACV) units can be air-transported into combat and retreat by RTB rather than overland. Models post-1944 helicopter-style mobility. Currently blocked on Cal re-adding the rule-22.12 ACV counters to the dump. Not implemented in the engine yet 58 Service Squadrons (SiF) Nearly always A face-up SSq counter at a friendly minor port may flip face-down to upgrade the port's naval stacking limit by its printed value (+10 or +20). Models the historical floating naval-base mobile infrastructure the USN used in the Pacific. 59 Warlords (TiF) Nearly always Adds Chinese Warlord HQs (Communist + Nationalist) that can be admitted to a Chinese faction's force pool with a controlled-home-city activation. Warlords are leashed to within 2 hexes of their home city. 60 Partisan HQs Nearly always Adds partisan HQ counters that can coordinate partisan operations within their home minor. Lets the partisan system project a more coherent threat than scattered single-unit risings.
